Transparency Report
How CantHide.org operates, our data sources, and our commitments.
Data Sources
All sex offender registry data on CantHide.org is sourced from publicly available government databases. Our primary sources include:
- NSOPW — The U.S. Department of Justice National Sex Offender Public Website, which aggregates data from all 50 states, D.C., and U.S. territories.
- State Registries — Direct feeds from individual state sex offender registry databases where available for more up-to-date information.
- Tribal Registries — Data from participating tribal sex offender registries.
Registry data is synced daily. Some states update their public registries more frequently than others, so minor delays of 24 to 72 hours may occur between a state database update and reflection on our platform.
AI Methodology
Our chat analyzer uses Claude, an AI model built by Anthropic, to evaluate conversation text for grooming indicators. The system identifies behavioral patterns across established categories including isolation tactics, secrecy requests, love bombing, age probing, gift offering, and photo solicitation. Analysis produces a threat level assessment, identified tactics with confidence scores, and contextual explanations.
Limitations: AI analysis is a screening tool, not a definitive judgment. False positives and false negatives can occur. Context matters — the analyzer evaluates text patterns but cannot assess tone of voice, relationship context, or intent with certainty. Results should always be interpreted alongside other information and, where warranted, reviewed by a qualified professional or reported to law enforcement.
Platform Scoring
Platform safety scorecards evaluate social media and gaming platforms across multiple dimensions:
- Moderation effectiveness — Response time to reports, automated detection capabilities, proactive monitoring.
- Parental controls — Availability, granularity, and default settings of parental oversight tools.
- Reporting mechanisms — Ease of reporting, in-app options, follow-up transparency.
- Privacy defaults — Default account visibility, DM settings, location sharing for minor accounts.
- Age verification — Strength and enforcement of age-gating measures.
Grades range from A (strong protections) to F (critical deficiencies). We currently assess 12 major platforms. Scorecards are reviewed and updated quarterly. Platforms are notified of their assessment and given the opportunity to provide context or demonstrate improvements before publication.
Hunter Network Standards
The Hunter Network is a community of verified individuals who contribute predator investigation intelligence. Standards include:
- Verification: All hunters undergo identity verification and background review before receiving verified status.
- Submission review: Every submission is reviewed by at least two moderators for accuracy, evidence quality, and legal compliance before publication.
- Legal compliance: Hunters must operate within the law. Entrapment, harassment, threats, or vigilante action result in immediate removal.
- Evidence standards: Submissions must include verifiable, unedited evidence. Fabricated or manipulated evidence results in permanent ban and potential legal referral.
